Brief History of Wado Ryu Karate Do Part I of III
Brief History of Wado Ryu Karate Do Part I of III Hironori Ohtsuka founded Wado-Ryu, the 1st Japanese form of Karate in 1938. It was the result of many years of training in various forms of Japanese Jiu Jitsu and Okinawan Karate, as well as Aikido, developed in a single fluid, powerful, yet peaceful martial art. Wado-Ryu Karate is the Way of peace and harmony, and has practiced as a way of life for millions of people worldwide. For this relatively new and widely practiced martial arts, the details of its origin are scarce or heated debates. There are many rumors and speculation. Give you the facts, as an outline of the story of my ability. Also, I apologize in advance if it appears that no part of this story is vague, which is a consequence of the lack of data on that section. For a more extensive study of Karate, Wado-Ryu, and Ohtsuka Sensei, please read the rest of my Wado Ryu Karate martial arts training guide.Ohtsuka started very young. His great uncle Chojiro Ebashi started teaching Jiu Jitsu (Jujutsu alteately writing and jujitsu), a grappling-oriented art that began at the age of 3 or 4. He was writing about the age of 5 or 6 in Yoshino Shindo-Ryu Jujutsu (? Sacred Willow Style? Jujutsu) in Shinzaburo-Sensei Nakayama. This form of Jiu Jitsu was founded by Katsunosuke Matsuoka, a student-ryu Jujutsu Yoshino (? Willow style?), During the first half of 1800. Yoshino Shindo-Ryu and emphasizes the natural grace movement. This study of natural circulation flows also played an important role in the development of Wado principles, together with Ohtsuka? And later in life training under Morihei Ueshiba O? Sensei, founder of Aikido. The use of the opponent? S pulse is so important to defeat him or her, as their movements. In addition, Jiu Jitsu? S Ohtsuka strong orientation influenced practice? S changes to the techniques that later lea.The Jiu Jitsu Karate community of that time preserved in general many of the traditions and arts fight Samurai Jiu Jitsu from which it was derived. Yoshino Shindo Ryu Jiu Jitsu, for example, contained Kenjutsu influence and a greater focus on strike Jiu Jitsu many other ways. Kenjutsu one hand a clear influence on the change of the body and control techniques of the hand Ohtsuka subsequently included in Wado-Ryu.Ohtsuka continued his study of Jiu Jitsu for many years. During his tenure at the University of Waseda (from 1910-1917, where he eaed his partner? S Degree in Economics), which has experimented with different styles of Jiu Jitsu to find their best qualities. Even at this early Ohtsuka began their development of techniques and principles.According for many, 1 June 1920 Ohtsuka was promoted to 4th Yoshino Grandmaster Shindo Ryu Jiu Jitsu. This was hotly debated, however. 3 Grandmaster Shindo Ryu Yoshino, Tatsuo Matsuoka (nephew of art? Founder s) will not happen until 1989, 7 years after Ohtsuka? S death. In addition, Ohtsuka? S instructor, Nakayama, started by the founder to start their own style and lineage Yoshino Shindo-Ryu. It 'also a wider debate about how much or little of the reality Yoshino Shindo-Ryu Jujutsu curriculum was subsequently approved in Wado Ryu. At least, Wado was strongly influenced by Yoshino Shindo-ryu principles and some of its waza (techniques). Owen Johnston, lives and teaches Wado Ryu Karate in Lake City, South Carolina.
